Case Study | Education
Our task was to help this leading university create a digital platform based around student needs, while simultaneously re-engineering internal processes to support these needs.
In February 2017, Splendid were asked to craft a consistent, personalised and immersive digital experience that brought together all the university's content, and demonstrated to current and prospective alumni, partners and research collaborators what makes Royal Holloway stand out from other higher education institutions.
Splendid worked in close collaboration with the Royal Holloway content team to painstakingly audit the previous site’s 15,000 pages and align these with the new content experience strategy.
“We’re delighted to be working with Splendid Unlimited to create a truly user-focused, modern and impactful website for Royal Holloway”

Development of digital propositions, driven by research with a global student base, to define a new way of engaging with the university and to convey the feeling of being a student.
In an increasingly global and competitive market RHUL needed to stand out, to demonstrate their point of difference. Development of digital propositions, driven by research with a global student base, to define a new way of engaging with the university and to convey the feeling of being a student.
Creation of a responsive pattern-based design system that could be used across all digital channels and devices supported by extensive user testing with a global audience.
Using insight-driven digital propositions we developed a flexible and responsive design system. A contextual navigation that allows for a fast user experience and for relevant content to be found quickly by users was also created alongside a Google-powered search engine.
Development of an Umbraco-based Content Management System, definition of content development process, training of users and ongoing support.
A key requirement from the client was a fully re-engineered Content Management System (CMS) and an accessible front-end on the Microsoft .Net based Umbraco platform. Full training was then supplied to the university for all content editing staff and the IT team. Splendid also continue to provide technical support for the platform.
